With no fewer than 11.2 channels of sound, the Yamaha RX-A8A delivers effortless, next level surround sound. Configure four ceiling or Atmos-enabled speakers as well as full, 7-channel surround sound. Alternatively, use two Atmos speakers and enjoy a broad soundstage with ‘front wide speakers’ forming a 9.2.2 system. If you don’t fancy a Dolby Atmos-specific system but want the most immersive sound possible, go for an 11.2 configuration. This offers 7.2 sound with the addition of front width and front height speakers.

Flagship component quality

Incorporating the Yamaha CX/MX-A5200’s concept architecture and materials, the RX-A8A is the ultimate Yamaha AVR. Premium construction includes a double bottom plate for reduced vibration. There’s thick copper foil for the circuit board to reduce impedance. You’ll also find an H-shaped Cross Frame chassis, anti-vibration construction and even a fifth damping foot, helping give the RX-A8A its ultimate detail and resolution.

The Qualcomm QCS407 system chips offers industry-leading compatibility, digital signal processing and seamless integration. Partnering this are twin SABRE ES9026 PRO premium DACs (Digital to Analogue Convertors). These offer exceptionally high signal-to-noise ratios, giving you ultra-low levels of distortion and the clearest sound – even at low volume levels.

Powerful processing from the DSP (Digital Sound Processor) analyses scenes in real time and then adjusts the surround effect in real time. By focusing on distinct sounds, such as dialogue, background music and sound effects, the RX-A8A automatically optimises the sound for incredible realism.

Wide-ranging surround sound – including Dolby Atmos, DTS:X and Auro-3D*

With wide-ranging surround sound support, the RX-A8A is all about immersive sound – however many speakers you use. Compatible formats include Dolby Atmos, Dolby Atmos Height Virtualization Technology, DTS:X, DTS Neural:X and Auro-3D. This wide range of options means you can adapt your surround sound speaker system from the simplest system with ‘virtual height’ speakers to full-blown 11.2 systems that truly bring the cinema home.

Professional connections – XLR balanced

Featuring an XLR-balanced interface, the RX-A8A is capable of pro-level connectivity. XLR connections feature additional shielding, making them more resistant to electrical interference. Connect more – including a turntable

As well as seven HDMI inputs, this Yamaha AVR also has a wide range of other AV connectivity. Component and composite inputs cover classic video sources. Optical and coaxial digital inputs are ideal for connecting older devices or upgrading the sound from a compatible CD/Network player. Five analogue inputs are perfect for Hi-Fi components, with the dedicated MM phono input perfect for plugging in a turntable.

Three HDMI outputs

Paired with the HDMI inputs, the RX-A8A boasts no fewer than three HDMI outputs. This lets you connect a TV and projector in your main room and a second TV in another room.

Dedicated HDMI Zone B

The RX-A8A benefits from a dedicated Zone B output. Zone switching lets you watch and listen to one source in a room and another in a different room.
